Mahi Maioro Professionals

Mahi Maioro Professionals is a firm based in Aotearoa (New Zealand) which provides support for mauri-based taiao (natural resource) assessments and other consultancy services to Iwi (Nation) and Hapū (clan) as well as other organizations.

• The Mauri Model
• Founder and Managing Director of Mahi Maioro Professionals (MMP), Dr. Kēpa Morgan, developed the mauri model as a decision-making framework that combines a stakeholder assessment of worldviews (i.e. prioritization of dimensions of environmental, cultural, social, and economic well-being) with impact assessments of indicators to determine sustainability trends and impacts of actions/options over time. This tool uses the concept of mauri as the measure of sustainability, in comparison to conventional monetary-based assessments.
  
  In collaboration with Dr. Matt Murphy and other members of the Balance Co-Lab team, the mauri model framework was adapted for use in economic development planning and impact assessment by the Toquaht First Nation on Vancouver Island, Canada.
