Mowachaht / Muchalaht First Nation
Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island and has thrived for generations beyond recorded history, and was once a hub for commerce and cultural exchange. Their hahoothlee (territory) encompasses the Nation’s centre Yuquot, also known as Friendly Cove, situated in Nootka Sound.
- A community with a deep connection to the land and sea.
- Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN), Ha’oom Fisheries Society, and Balance Co-Lab work together on co-development and implementation of MMFN’s Food Security, Emergency Management, and Five-year Fisheries Economic Development Plans. This work upholds the Nuu-chah-nulth principles of hishuk ish tsa’walk (everything is connected, everything is one) and isaak (respect).
