Ch’íyáqtel (Tzeachten First Nation)

Ch’íyáqtel are proud affiliates of the Stó:lō Nation (“People of the River”) and members of the Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe. Once known as Tzeachten First Nation, Ch’íyáqtel is a 728-member Nation reclaiming its traditional Halq’eméylem name, carrying forward its ancestral title as the “keepers of traditional territories.” Ch’íyáqtel protects the lands extending through Sardis and adjacent to the Chilliwack/Vedder River. Their reserve sits within the broader Ts’elxwéyeqw territory, spanning 95,000 hectares across the Chilliwack River Valley.
